If you’ve been looking for a way to make making online, without leaving the comfort of your own house, then you’ve seen that there are hundreds and hundreds of different options available.
Some of them are scams, and a lot of them are not worth the time and effort that you put into them.
When you’re looking for a way to make some extra money in your spare time, it’s important that you find a way that isn’t going to waste your time, and because there are so many options, you can spend weeks looking to find the best choice.
Luckily, I’m here to make that search as easy as possible. To help you find the best way to earn extra spending money, I’ve reviewed dozens of survey platforms and outlined their advantages and disadvantages to save you the time of having to join all of them yourself.
In this article, I’m going to explore Toluna Surveys, which is one of the oldest and most popular survey websites on the market, but being the oldest doesn’t necessarily make them the best.

A Background of Toluna Surveys
Toluna was established in 2000 and has its headquarters in Paris, but they are a Dallas-based market research company. They have made a lot of improvements through the years, and they have also acquired several other similar companies, like Common Knowledge and Greenfield Online.
They have offices in Texas, Germany, Israel, Spain, Japan, Australia, and several others. Because of the number of offices, it’s easy to see that Toluna has a global reach.
Not only are they one of the first survey sites to be established, but they are also one of the largest. They have over 800 employees across the world, and they have over 4 million members in their program.
Not all of those are active members, but the number is still impressive compared to a lot of their competitors.
Getting Started With Toluna Surveys
If you decide to create an account at Toluna, it’s quick and easy to do. Like MySurvey and other survey sites, they will only need basic importation, and you can have a profile in a matter of minutes.
While every survey site is simple to join, Toluna goes to extra lengths to make it as easy as possible. Not only that, but they also reward you with 500 points just for successfully creating your account (this sounds like a lot of points, but we will get to that later).
As soon as you finish creating your account, you can start taking some of the short surveys that they have available. Most of the first ones are going to be very short and won’t give you a lot of reward points, but you’ll need to do these before you can start fishing for the big ones.
The rewards for the surveys are going to vary drastically depending on the length of the survey. The longer surveys are going to take around 30 minutes, and you’ll get 2,500 points for those surveys.
Once again, this sounds like an awesome reward, but we will look at the conversion rates in a minute. The amount of points that you get for a completed survey can vary anywhere from 15 points to 20,000 points. This is one of the widest point ranges that you’re going to find.
Getting Paid and Cashing Out with Toluna Surveys
Aside from completing surveys, there are several ways that you can rack up your points. Finishing surveys are going to be one of the best ways to make money, but there are several other ways that you can make money.
One way is to participate in “mini-polls,” which are simple yes or no polls that will give you 15 points. They are sponsored by different businesses.
They are an easy way to make money, but they aren’t going to break your bank with points. If you want a quick way to mix it up, these tiny polls are a great way to do that.
Another way is to participate in their referral program. For every friend that joins Toluna using your link, you’ll get an extra 500 points.
This is an excellent way to rack up some serious points, just for having some of your buddies join the program. More than likely, you know some people who are looking to make extra money.
So, how do all of those points translate into real world cash? For every 3,000 points, that will convert into $1. Yep. It takes 3,000 points for you to get one dollar.
The rate of points to dollars is a lot worse than you’ll see with some of the other competitors. For example, with i-Say, they only require that you have 100 points for every $1, which is a much better ratio.
When you’re ready to redeem those points, there are several ways that you can do that. The obvious way is to have your money transferred into a PayPal account that you link to your profile.
If you want to get your money as cold hard cash, this is the best way that you can do that. You’ll have to wait until you’ve accumulated at least $20 worth of points, which is going to be 60,000 points. Yes, you read that correctly, 60,000.
Once you’ve accumulated enough points to cash out through PayPal, and you’ve requested the transfer, it’s going to take several weeks to get your money.
The website states that it could take at least eight weeks to get your reward, but most users say that it only takes a couple of weeks.
If you want your money quicker you can use your points to purchase a gift card. They have dozens and dozens of different stores that you can buy a gift card from, and then you’ll have the card sent directly to you.
Regardless of where you like to shop, they will have an option that works for you.
You can also use your points to enter their sweepstakes. It’s going to cost you 500 points for every entry. They offer monthly drawings where winners get thousands of dollars of cash or different electronics. These sweepstakes are not available in every country.
One of the unique ways for you to use your points is to purchase Toluna Gifties. This is a program that will allow you to buy a “giftie” that gives you the chance to win a prize. The virtual gift represents the physical gift that you can win.
Advantages of Toluna Surveys
One of the benefits of Toluna Surveys is that they also have an app that you can use. For a survey site, this is one of the best advantages that you’ll find. This will let you see survey options and see your profile and how many points you’ve accumulated.
The monthly sweepstakes are also a nice benefit of Toluna and can give you a great chance of getting a couple of thousands of dollars.
Toluna pools member’s money, and depending on how many people enter the sweepstakes, it could be around $4,000 or more. Sure, these aren’t a guaranteed way to make money, but it’s a nice advantage if you want to try your luck.
Disadvantages of Toluna Surveys
One of the common complaints that you’ll find with Toluna (and with just about every survey site) is that a lot of members get disqualified after they start taking the survey.
Every survey is going to start by asking a few basic questions, and if you don’t answer the questions that show that you qualify, then you’ll be kicked out of the survey, and you won’t get the rewards.
Another obvious problem is the rewards system. As I mentioned, it’s going to take a lot of points to earn extra spending money. Toluna is not going to be the best way to make money in your free time.
Each survey is going to net you around 3,000 points, which means that you’ll have to complete 30 surveys to reach the minimal threshold to cash out.
Another drawback of Toluna is that your points have an expiration date. All of your unused points are going to vanish if they sit there for a year.
For most users, this is not a major problem, but it’s important to be aware of if you plan on sticking with the program for a while.
Toluna – Is it right for you?
There are dozens of different survey websites on the Internet that you can choose from. All of them are going to have different advantages and disadvantages.
Toluna is going to be one of the oldest and largest options on the market, but I would not recommend Toluna being your only side money. There are several other survey programs that you can join that will give you more rewards for your time.
Best Online Survey Sites
If you decide that Toluna is not the best option for you (and more than likely it isn’t), it’s okay. I have reviewed several other options and will give you the benefits for each of them.
Head over to my Best Online Survey Sites page, and you’ll find a list of several different survey programs that you can join.
I’ve spent time outlining all of the pros and cons of some of the biggest survey sites available. I’ve broken down different parts of the sites, like how much they pay per survey, how you can get paid from the program, and if you will get rewards for each survey or if they use a cash system.
For a lot of people, the difference between getting rewarded points versus getting rewarded in cash can be a deal breaker, and I’ve brought all of that information directly to you.
If you want to start making money by taking surveys, then I would highly recommend that you use the Best Survey Sites as your guide, and not just because I wrote it. You could spend hours researching and signing up for various sites, but I’ve done all of that dirty work for you.
The Bottom Line – Toluna Surveys Review
In the vast landscape of online opportunities to earn extra income, Toluna Surveys emerges as one option among many.
While it boasts a long history and a global presence, Toluna may not be the optimal choice for everyone seeking to supplement their income.
The platform offers a variety of surveys, mini-polls, and referral incentives, but it falls short in terms of the points-to-dollars conversion rate, requiring a substantial number of points to earn even a small sum.
Additionally, the potential disqualification from surveys and the expiration of unused points could frustrate users. Overall, Toluna is one of many survey options, but it may not be the most rewarding choice for your time and effort.
